Shalon started in sheet metal trade working part time in high school, over 20 years ago. She fell in love with working with metal and being able to build and create things.
She enrolled in to the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Craft Training & Apprenticeship program after four years, and graduated as the first women to receive a journeyman license in the sheet metal trade. After she earned a Project Managers Certificate, she became assistant foreman and protege, working alongside foreman Ronnie Conn. In 2011, she came to Gillette. and started with running various machines (Coil line, Plasma table, Gore lock, ect.). She then continued to improve her skill set by working on getting safety training certified in various areas such as OSHA, Forklift, CPR, First Aid, and many more). Since her arrival at Gillette, she has taken the position of Shop Foreman, where her leadership and her team aim to run a safe and efficient shop. She credits the Gillette “CAN DO!” attitude and friendly environment is to the success of a safe working environment with over 600,000 hours with a Lost Time Injury.
Shalon is also an ABC instructor teaching the sheet metal trade to future journeyman, ensuring the future success of this trade. She loves to share her knowledge and passion for her expertise with others. With over two decades on the craft, she has a lot to share!
