San Antonio (Bexar Co.) – Invited contractors are preparing bids for renovation work to the interior of the Crockett Building, one of three historic buildings across the street from The Alamo that are included in a major Alamo Plaza redevelopment effort.
Six companies signed up for this “limited invitation to submit proposal” on a project referred to by the Texas General Land Office as the Crockett Block at the Alamo Complex.
The scope of work was prepared by RVK Architects Inc. and the RFP was released Dec. 6. An on-site pre-proposal meeting was held Dec. 8 and proposals are due Dec. 22. Companies on the pre-bid sign-in list included Metropolitan Contracting Co. LLC, Guido Brothers Construction Co., JC Stoddard Construction, Sabinal Group, Quinney Electric Inc., and Gillette Air Conditioning Co. Inc.
This project does not include the entire building. Tasks include partial demolition and construction of ceilings, walls, doors, floor finishes, wall finishes, electrical and mechanical work. Renovations will take place in the basement, first and second floors, according to the architectural drawings.
The Crockett Building is adjacent to the Palace and Woolworth buildings (yellow on map) that were also purchased by the GLO for redevelopment.
